About
I started KKG, because I wanted to provide quality non leather accessories, that were not only vegan, but eco-friendly. My aim is to provide the quality and luxury associated with animal leather, using plant based products.
When researching the materials available and then deciding on the materials to source and finally use for each product it was important to me that they were vegan friendly and came from sustainable sources and did not use the harsh chemical processes, or the water consumption of leather. It was also important that they were biodegradable and therefore materials such as PVC or PU, were out of the question despite the fact that they have long been used as a cheaper alternative to leather.
My research into leather alternatives highlighted the fact that there is a lot of work being done in this area and there are a number of companies, engineers and designers out there experimenting with alternatives to leather and other fabrics. Not only are they looking at vegan alternatives, but alternatives that are sustainable and durable, whilst also being biodegradable. Whilst some of these are still in their infancy and have a long way to go before they are suitable for use, there are those, that are now established alternatives, such as cork, pineapple leaf and coconut fibre.
The products made and sold by KKG are primarily made from cork, but other vegan leathers will be added in the future.
I continue to research and keep an eye on leather alternatives to ensure that my products are being made from the best non animal leather available.
Thank you for taking the time to stop by and I hope you found something you liked.
